JBSR under concrete repair, protection and waterproofing works to this medium rise block of flats in east London.

JBSR Limited were awarded the entrance canopy refurbishment works contract after successfully completing the competitive tender process.

The works consisted of 7 entrance canopies which were showing signs of significant structural defects due to corroding reinforcement and filler joists. This in-situ corrosion was apparent to the entrance deck area as well as the entrance soffit area below.

The repair scheme therefore required the careful removal of the affected concrete areas, preparation and protection of steel reinforcement and reinstatement works to include concrete repairs, anti-carbonation coatings and non-slip deck coating systems.

The works were undertaken with the residents in situ with emergency access being maintained throughout the works.The original scope of works had planned for some of these in-situ canopies to be demolished due to a lack of structural integrity, however utilising modern repair methods and specialist repair materials, we, in conjunction with the structural engineer, were able to avoid this expensive de-construction work and repair the in-situ concrete, therefore offering considerable cost savings to the client.
